What Do You LOVE About Product Management?
As much as I like to point out that Product Management is stressful, difficult, and overwhelming, I obviously wouldn’t be in this field if I didn’t love many aspects of it.
Every now and then, it’s important to step back for a moment and remember why you love your work (or your significant other, for that matter!). It makes you appreciate what you have and remember why you are doing what you’re doing.
So, without further ado, here is my list:
-
I love working with lots of smart people.
-
I love hearing from customers that our product has helped their business or made their lives easier.
-
I love bringing order to chaos.
-
I love the challenge of managing expectations and making sure that a release has at least one improvement for each group of stakeholders.
-
I love defining problems and working with the team to find awesome solutions.
-
I love learning something new every day.
How about you? What do you LOVE about Product Management?

This will sound capitalistic, but I like making money. Let’s face it, building and then managing the product is like running a business and (for most of us) we are in business to make money so it only makes sense that you enjoy it.
All your other points are valid too.

Good one!
“I love hearing from customers that our product has helped their business or made their lives easier.”
Hey Tabita, I like this particular point. You get a lot of gratification when other people improve their business thanks to your product or service.
